Tonight we had pizza for dinner, not because we were homesick, but because we are heartsick.
Our fun, happy, joyful, playful dog Emma died today.
This is the picture that won our hearts first, it was on the web.

The next two are Emma at Country Lane Pet Hotel, where she got to play with other dogs while we visited Mom and Carolyn, until we found out how well she traveled. Then she went to Neffsville and West Chester with us.
One of her special treats was getting to sleep on the bed with us when we visited Mom.

She also curled up on the couch with us at home, the rule of four paws on the floor did not last long at our house.

Emma got sick on October 1, 2018. She was eventually diagnosed with immune mediated polyarthritis, which is like rheumatoid arthritis in humans. The vets, and everything we read, said she could recover completely from this, but after fighting it for 10 months of intermittent pain, and various problems from the drugs she was on, she succumbed to the awful disease that made her last 10 months with us less than wonderful for her and for us, and for everyone that knew her.
Rest In Peace, Emma, and romp all you like beyond the rainbow bridge.
Iām so sorry.
There are no words that are adequate for the loss of a pet.

Nancy and I are so sorry. Please try to be comforted that she was surrounded by loving family at the end and is now at peace. Sigma and Angel and Pepper are with her at the bridge.

I am so sorry to hear that Emma is gone. I am extra sad for you and for us , because years ago our beloved Misia went to dog heaven on this exact day.
It is heartbreaking to lose a true friend. But what is good to remember is that those loyal friends were loved and had a wonderful life with those who loved them.
Sending love,
Monika, Dennis, Sean, and Julian

The kids, the pets, and I are all very sad about Emma!
She was a very cool dog, and made herself at home here quickly. We’d like to think that she enjoyed the last couple of weeks. The kids certainly enjoyed having her around, and I loved being greeted by two dogs when I got home.
Worf is wandering aimlessly – if I did not know better I’d swear he enjoyed helping Emma out – he shepherded her out and back in, it was amusing to watch. I do know that he enjoyed the company of another dog
The cats? Well, they are cats, who knows what they are thinking?
And now I am stuck with this image of Sigma and Emma comparing notes about life with Jim and Pam – thanks Ray!
