On the last Saturday before we left, Bangjie took Pam and I to the Observatory, the highest point in Dalian. The view from there was spectacular, i will let the pictures speak for themselves.
The first few are as we are climbing to the top of the mountain,
The sea bridge across the Heishi Reef bay is in the left bottom part of the picture, stay tuned for more pictures of the bridge – you are talking to a structural engineer after all! In the right center area of the picture is the Castle, a HUGE hotel that looks like no one could afford to stay there.

The next batch are from the observatory at different levels. The city, while a 2nd tier city in China, is huge, and very definitely high-rise.

And a better shot of the Castle hotel,

Now for some of the same at night, courtesy of Bangjie, this is the Ferris wheel you can see from the top of the observatory, it is at the zoo.

This is the observatory seen from below as you are climbing

And the Ferris wheel from above at night,

And the bridge, lit up at night in beautiful, and changing colors.

It was a fine day, visiting the observatory, riding the bus, having our ship come in (the gift we got ourselves) and a great seafood dinner with Bangjie at the end of the day. More about the other topics later…
