Every night in Dalian, by the waterfront next to the Convention Center, there is a light show at the fountain. There are huge streams of water of different colors and shapes, all accompanied by music. The show draws thousands of people every night!
Here are some pictures and three short (about 1 minute) videos, enjoy!

I’m putting the videos in as links, it should be easier for you and for me.

This shot, before the start of the festivities, shows me with Mark Holder, a new friend we have met here through LION. Mark is a neuroscientist and studies Happiness as a science. He is a very nice person and appears to be a happy one, but i am not sure we have all the data.
In the background of the photo, in the air, are tiny lighted toy rockets, for lack of a better description. The rockets are launched with a slingshot with a rubber band, and have a little LED light on them and an aperture that makes a whistling noise. After watching all the children and the fun they were having with them, i of course had to get one. It cost 20 RMB, which is about $1.50 US. Not a bad deal, a picture of the rockets follows the one of Mark and me.

After the show we stopped for a few minutes to watch some street performers, these were ordinary people that had practiced with these music videos and did a very good job singing along with them. Of course there was a box for tips/donations, but the big difference here, and i need to tell you more about it, is they are working for electronic payments! I think you can leave a tip by scanning the QR code on the box. Cash is disappearing in China rapidly, and being replaced by electronic payments via smartphone. This works for almost everything, from merchants to person to person transactions. China is way ahead of us on this.
